The Hope and Promise of Epiphany

Epiphany is bright stars and astrologers and promise. It also means Christmas is over, and that I cannot stay in Bethlehem; I cannot stay much longer in the star-drenched meadow where angels always sing. God keeps waiting for me in Nazareth, at the shop, where through the years I have been working out my salvation with fear and trembling.

Which is also to say that for Mary and Joseph, Egypt was not the planned itinerary. It was a strange and frightening interlude. You and I have been there, too. It is that foreign land of loneliness, near despair, unexpected catastrophe, loss, bereavement and grief, unemployment, personal economic collapse, an accident, where we learn how vulnerable we really are.

The God who gave us Bethlehem has not died on the way to Egypt. Some friends that I have had the privilege of mentoring at times are not sure, or at least they do not like the silence. What great joy when the "light" goes on again, when they find the vigilant God helping them find the way home.

Our thrill as Ministry Mentors is to ride the Egypt roads with many who look for a sign that our Redeemer is still paving the way.

Mentoring Resources on the Web

Have you visited the Ministry Mentors intranet site lately?  This password-protected portion of the website contains hundreds of documents relating to mentoring, coaching, and leadership to assist you in your work with other pastors.

The site is readily accessible to our mentoring team from the lower right-hand corner of the home page of our website at:

www.ministrymentors.org

If you have lost or forgotten your username and/or login password, email Pam at Pam@ministrymentors.org and she will be happy to send you the needed information.

Also, if you have a suggestion for either our internet or intranet sites, please forward those on to Pam as well.  We are always looking for ways we can improve and expand the sites.
